Let’s talk about premature obsolescence

In this session we will talk about planned obsolescence through several cases, in order to analyse if they are actually cases of planned obsolescence.

First, we will give a definition of planned obsolescence, from a designer perspective, but also what does the France have done about it from a legal point of view.

Secondly, we will present interesting cases and discuss about the fact that it is planned obsolescence or not. For each one, we like the idea to show the problem, a solution, and the manufacturer defense.

Finally, we will end on a positive note with solutions against planned obsolescence, like eco-designed products.
